THE TRACES AND VISIBILITY OF LIFE

Final Major Project, Birmingham City University
This concept focuses on the otherwise unnoticed surfaces that we commonly use and pass by. Through my use of visible repair and biomaterials, I am treating these locations with respect and appreciating them for their usefulness, while also instilling the idea surrounding the ‘beauty’ of imperfections and repair aesthetics.

The project takes on ideas such as consciousness, from myself the artist – looking into ‘my world’, the need for care within my life, and the environments I surround myself with. Furthermore, the larger picture for my audience, encompassing ideas about the important and fulfilling act of mending they too can adopt.
Additionally, the project is being used as a catalyst for educational purposes in regards to biomaterial making, natural dyeing and repair work.
