ABOUT ME-

I greatly appreciate the intricate details and comforting nature hand-embroidery brings, harnessing this craft as an act of mindfulness. Embroidery for me provides a opportunity for story-telling but also to reinforce functionality – using it to mend rather than discard, a behaviour which I like to showcase to a larger audience.

Recently I have questioned different ways to apply stitch, considering what surfaces I can embroider into. From this I spiralled into biomaterial creation, this approach has allowed me to create biodegradable materials which I have generated from raw ingredients into a physical piece that can be held. Seeing this progression has made me feel more involved in my discipline and widened my knowledge beyond just ‘textiles’. I also enjoy exploring the many nuances of colour possibilities for threads and biomaterials from natural sources. The process of documenting this exploration through recipes, methods, and technical files is something I take just as much pride in as design work.
