I have always enjoyed mending my clothing and material-based objects – replacing buttons and patching up holes. Partaking in this for my own belongings but also helping others with any mending needs they may have. Darning for me is an incredibly mindful activity, not only this but it makes a small change towards much larger environmental issues surrounding fast-fashion and throwaway culture. I additionally use mending as a way to share important message of 'slowing down' and caring for what you already own. This is portrayed through the 'visibility' of thread, the contrast of colours that I choose and the time I dedicate to each stitch.
